To be honest, as someone who loves Zhang Luo’s family gatherings and friend parties very much, I have experienced countless embarrassing moments that make people laugh and cry.
You must have encountered this situation before: about ten people sitting around an exquisite long dining table or a large round table, chatting enthusiastically, suddenly you want to eat the plate of grilled cheese on the other side of the table, or the salt shaker placed in the distance. At this moment, you had to interrupt your friend who was speaking loudly: “Hey, sorry, can you help me pass that?” Then, the dish passed through several people like a relay baton and was handed to you. The originally coherent and beautiful rhythm of the conversation was instantly interrupted.
The large dining table is certainly grand, but the physical distance caused by “out of reach” often invisibly presses the mute button for gatherings.
In order to break this “social confinement”, my team and I decided to focus on an ancient and wise detail – the Lazy Susan – when designing this Meetwarm 9-piece luxury circular outdoor dining table and chair set.
Inspiration story: “Sharing Aesthetics” stolen from Grandma’s New Year’s Eve dinner
The inspiration for this detachable turntable actually comes from my experience of going back to my hometown last year to spend the New Year with my grandma.
My grandmother’s house has a traditional round table that has been passed down for a long time, with a bulky wooden turntable in the middle. That New Year’s Eve, the small room was crowded with three generations, and the table was filled with grandma’s signature dishes. I noticed that whenever the turntable slowly rotates, not only does the food flow, but the eyes, laughter, and topics of family members also keep flowing with the turntable. My nephew wanted to eat chicken legs, but my uncle gently turned the wheel and the chicken legs arrived in front of the child; The elders wanted to clink glasses, so the wine bottles on the turntable turned to their side.
At that moment, I suddenly realized that the round table and turntable were one of the greatest social inventions of the Chinese people for thousands of years. It makes “sharing” extremely natural, no one needs to accommodate it, and no delicious food will be neglected.
After returning to the studio, I was thinking: why can’t we bring this heartwarming and shareable “spinning wheel culture” to a more free and open modern outdoor life?
Westerners advocate for free terrace parties and poolside barbecues, while Easterners value completeness and sharing. What would happen if these two were combined to create a 360 degree turntable with a highly modern aesthetic, steadily landing at the center of a vintage carved aluminum round table?
So, this set of works was created.

The biggest highlight of this dining table and chair set is undoubtedly the removable cast aluminum turntable (Lazy Susan) with a diameter of 31 inches at the center of the table.

We specially arranged 6 anti slip and soundproof pads on the turntable base during the design process. It not only rotates smoothly like silk without any noise, but also firmly grasps the desktop to prevent scratches caused by metal friction. With a 61 inch large table top with a weight of up to 200 pounds, even if you put a huge multi-layer wedding cake or a heavy large vase on it, it is still as stable as Mount Tai.
